Got to watch those Facebook posts

One should always be careful of what one posts to Facebook because various financial interests are looking too and intend to use it against you.

In this case, a woman on disability for depression had benefits cut by a private insurer because she posted happy holiday photos on Facebook.  “Suck it up princess and work like the rest of us,” one might be inclined to say, “I don’t get frakking holidays.”  Doesn’t work that way with depression.  Perhaps she’s lazy, but maybe she really does have to deal with the Black Dog.  It’s nobody’s business what she does with her money; its not like you live high on the hog on benefits anyway.  In fact, a happy holiday may well speed up her recovery.

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure this one out.  Insurance companies are the pinnacle of dysfunctional capitalism.  Your relationship with the insurer can never truly be a good one because it is in the interest of an insurance company to never pay you, or find a way not to pay you, which is what happened here.  You better believe they are watching you, especially on Facebook.
